Linguine with Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce

- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons soft margarine spread(60% or more oil)
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 3 large tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped
- 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves or 1/4 cup fresh chopped basil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 12 ounces linguine, cooked
In large skillet, over medium-high heat, cook onion, garlic and pepper in margarine until onion is tender, about 3 minutes. Add mushrooms; cook for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, basil and sugar; heat to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve over linguine.
